About Us

Our Story

You know the Hitch concept as a place where you can grab a great, fresh burger and fries, and have great meals with family and friends. But did you know we’re about more than serving up some of the best burgers in inland Southern California?

The story behind the Hitch concept began many years ago, when Karina Suchánek (Vazquez), having earned a business degree from the Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara in Mexico, moved to Southern California to learn conversational English and advance her lucrative career at the Bank of Mexico. As part of her efforts, she landed a gig as a cashier at the Inland Empire restaurant chain, Cowboy Burgers & BBQ, giving her the perfect opportunity to meet and chat with native English speakers. Not only did Karina pick up on the language quickly, she soon learned she had a love and knack for the restaurant business. Before she knew it, she was General Manager of a Cowboy Burgers & BBQ location, then managing multiple locations, and soon was given a franchise of her very own to operate!

It wasn’t long after her business success that Karina met Chris Suchánek, the CEO of digital marketing agency Firm Media, Inc. In addition to their mutual love of business, both Karina and Chris share a devotion for giving back, something that helped the pair bond as they fell in love. The couple also formed a non-profit, Project Boon, focused on giving back in Southern California through events like Eat & Be Well and in Tuxpan, Jalisco, Mexico, where Karina grew up, through Operation Devolver.

Wanting a vehicle to drive even more dollars to underserved communities, as well as a strong desire to develop her own restaurant concept, Karina received the blessing from the owner of Cowboy Burgers & Grill to transform her franchises into new restaurants with her own, personal touch. As such, the Hitch concept was born, with a focus on fresh ingredients, family, and community. With walls decorated with inspirational quotes, fundraising opportunities for local charities and a percentage of profits going back to Project Boon to help those who need it most, the Hitch concept is definitely about more than great food. In fact, as we like to say, it’s “Where giving back never tasted so good.”
